A Last Refrain For Summer
Autumn staggers in--
Out of place but welcomed
like a daydream
The air is cold,
night is colder--
and Summer exits stage right,
behind a curtain of rain
basking in peals of applause
and cheers
of encore
It is gone
In it's place--
Longing
Somber shadows fall
Clouds loom with menace
Summer is gone--
Reduced to memories
Pictures and side thoughts
Secrets--
Mosquito bites
Faint strums by professional Porch Guitarist
Freshly mowed lawns; sweet and aromatic
Easy smiles--
--easy laughter
Dry, arid heat--thin and dusty
Summer, now, sleeps in fond reverie
The earth shivers
Only for a minute's Time

Intriguing. I didn't know you wrote poems. Hey, we want to see you sometime soon. Call us when you have a minute to your name. We miss you.
